I made this crochet hook case for myself last week because I was a little jealous of the one that I made for my private swap. So, after drafting up a pattern and figuring out the measurements for everything, I got to work and made myself a crochet hook case. If you want to make one, you could just follow my tutorial for the knitting needle case and just make adjustments as necessary for your amount/size hooks.
The fabric consist of both old and new. The old (inside lining fabric) is fabric that my Grandma gave me and the new (outer fabric with the mushrooms and ladybugs) is from an Etsy Seller.
A picture of the back of the case. I did a little mushroom applique and then because I didn't have the right color of fabric for the stem, I grabbed my fabric markers and just started coloring until I was happy with the color.
All opened up with a little pocket and a place to put my scissors. Which, after I made this and put in my crochet hooks, I realized that I only really use 2 of my crochet hooks. My size G and my size H. Although I do want to try (one day, not now because of us moving) to crochet with fabric.
I used a velcro closure and then added buttons to give it a little detail. Although, after I stitched on the red buttons, I realized that I didn't incorporate anything "ladybug-ish" into it so I just stitched on a little head and some antenna for the bugs. I think it gives it a little bit of whimsy.
And now for the knitting needle case which actually inspired my tutorial that I made. This knitting needle case I actually made as a gift for Sabrina (tinyneedles) and she absolutely LOVES it. (Once again, both fabric are from Walmart, hey, for a $1.00/yd you can't beat it)
I just LOVE making gifts for people.
