New Friends

This past week I was watching Martha Stewart (yes, I can't help but love her and Carol Duvall) and she had Emily Martin from Inside a Black Apple on making the most cutest most sweetest dolls. The pattern and construction seemed easy enough that I knew I could figure it out (I've never made a doll before). So up to the craft room L. and I went. It's actually going to be a surprise for K. because she has a birthday coming up in a few weeks (has it been 8 years already?!)

ssshhhh! Birthday gift for K.

She is just a "test run" doll for now. There are a few things that I would like to change about her. Nothing much, just pretty much the sizing of her and plus she needs a gorgeous wardrobe. So, now I've put another deadline on myself and everyday have slowly been making her things. For now though, she'll live in my craft room and gets much playtime in with L. Which believe me, she does not understand why she can't name the doll, but on the upside, got to help me pick out the fabric, stuff her, and just little help with the sewing part. Shockingly enough though, she has not told K. "our secret" and keeps reminding her that she can't go into Mama's craft room.

ssshhhh! Birthday gift for K.

A few more friends have been in the making. K. came home from school today and wanted to make bunnies.

New Friends

She almost had them complete before my Mom came to pick up her and L. so James and I could have a nice (quiet) night alone together. They are really cute and she even made them little tails, bows for there ears, and dresses (all out of construction paper).

The craft gene is strong. I love how she looks working at the table.

Your doll is so cute.

Thank you nettie! Both my girls have the crafting gene in them and I love every second of it. Whether something simple as coloring a picture, or making bunnies.

The doll is coming along and I have a bigger one in the works. Not to much bigger but big enough.

Very cute doll! It'll be even more fun making wardrobes for them.

Thank you kb! I have to say that it is much easier making clothes for a doll than myself or my girls.

Oh, I love Martha too! Did you watch her show like the Apprentice when it came out? Loved it!

I printed out this pattern and am going to make one for a niece of mine, but I'm going to make it some other clothes too. It is going to be a Christmas present. I'm thinking of making it a little sweater, a skirt, an apron, a hat, a scarf... etc.. we will see. Sometimes I'm a little ambitious!

Your doll is absolutely adorable and I'm sure your daughter will love it!

OMGoodness, I love Martha. I swear, despite all the legal trouble she was in (which I personally think she was set up) I DVR her show everyday and watch it when the girls go to bed. Sometimes I wish that I had as much knowledge as she does about plants, flowers, trees, crafting, cooking, etc.

And thank you for the comment on the doll. Her birthday is just right around the corner so I'm still finishing up the clothes for the doll. Apron, skirt, dress, and hopefully some cute Mary-Janes.

I'm so glad you posted about this. My 9yr old has been wanting to make one of these dolls but we didn't have the pattern.
Despite Martha's troubles, she does have some great ideas. I always seem to miss her show, but I do check out the website.
